First African partner joins McDonnell International Scholars Academy

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton traveled to Ghana and signed papers Friday making the University of Ghana the first partner in Africa — and the 28th overall — in the McDonnell International Scholars Academy. Here, Wrighton shares insights from his travels.

Students compete to reduce energy for third annual Green Cup competition

Students living in on-campus housing on the South 40, the north side of the Danforth Campus and in fraternities are turning off lights, sharing refrigerators and setting their laptops on power save mode to try to win the Green Cup. The Green Cup recognizes the team in each area that garners the most points during the February competition.

Medicine department to enhance faculty development efforts

Mario Castro, MD, and Angela Brown, MD, will lead a new office in the Department of Medicine that supports faculty members’ career development. The new program will feature workshops and seminars to promote faculty career development in the areas of research, clinical care, education and leadership.

Now the former king of Thebes wanders Greece a beggar, blinded by his own hand.
